Cardiff Masters Swimming Club was born out of City of Cardiff Swimming Club in the mid 1980’s. It is a friendly swimming club that follows the principals of Masters Swimming – i.e. swimming for adults. Originally introduced to cater for the over 25’s, but now includes those who are 18 and over.
The basic ethos of Masters Swimming is to give everyone a go (from casual fitness swimmers to ex-elite swimmers) and to encourage as much participation as possible.
The word ‘Masters’ does not imply a degree of competence, it merely indicates that you are above a certain age! The membership covers a wide range of abilities and ages.
People join for various reasons – returning to swimming from career/education breaks, improving fitness, improving technique, desire to compete (not compulsory!) or even just to make friends and socialize.
Members have to affiliate to Swim Wales and then pay a monthly club fee by standing order. Our two-tier membership system allows you to swim twice a week or up to four times a week – your choice!
There are currently four available sessions a week
Monday @ Cardiff International Pool (CIP)
8.30-9.30pm (Long course – 4 lanes)
Tuesday @ Western Leisure Centre (Ely)
8.30-9.30pm (Short course – 6 lanes)
Wednesday @ Cardiff International Pool (CIP)
8.00-9.30pm (Short course – 5 lanes)
Friday @ Cardiff International Pool (CIP)
8-9pm (Short Course – 5 lanes)
The lanes are organised by ability and the Club Coach provides a tailored training program for each lane. So even if you haven’t swum for years, there will be a level to suit you. Why not come down and swim at one of our sessions and see what it’s like?
You can contact us before hand or just turn up. The first session is completely free so you have nothing to lose.
