A UKCC Level 3 qualified coach and started coaching in 2005.
I started competitive swimming at the age of nine with Rhymney Valley Swimming Club (now Caerphilly County Swim Squad) and reached county standard before a recurring injury ended my career as a swimmer.
I started to teach swimming with Cardiff Council where I qualified to UKCC Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics. I learnt the importance of the basics of how swimmers develop from a beginner through to pre-comp level.
My first coaching opportunity was with Peter Key, Head Coach at Caerphilly County Swim Squad. I volunteered for Caerphilly County Swim Squad for 3 years gaining valuable experience in coaching swimmers at a Welsh National Level and all different abilities of competitive swimming.
Joining City of Cardiff in 2008 was a natural career progression as a competitive swimming coach. I coach the Performance swimmers of the Club and help to continue to build the direction of the Development squads, whilst working alongside a great team of Volunteers with a great amount of knowledge.
I have taken swimmers to a Welsh National Level where swimmers have achieved numerous medals and helped and guided swimmers to achieve British National Age Group qualifying times.
For the past 4 years I have been privileged and fortunate to be able to work very closely with 2 Olympic Coaches Dave Haller and Keith Bewley. The opportunity to help the Head Coach develop swimmers to an International and Olympic Level has been invaluable and have gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge from both coaches.
I hope to continue my development in my coaching career and one day produce a World Class swimmer.
