Ben Reid

Coach

ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher and ASA Level 2 Swimming Coach.

Joined City of Cardiff at the age of 8 and swam until the age of 16 where I reached squad J2. Undertaking Duke Of Edinburgh Silver Award which was offered to me through the Club in 2009, I completed my volunteer section by helping out at my old swimming club in UWIC helping to teach swimming and loved it.

Whilst obtaining my teachers qualifications and whilst in school worked 7 days a week teaching swimming for various private swim schools around Cardiff gaining valuable experience and teaching children of all ages and abilities.

After leaving school, set up my own business teaching swimming called “Lagoon Swim School”. As well as teaching children I teach many adults and especially tri-athletes.

Returning in 2012 to City Of Cardiff and began volunteering and assisting Head Of Academy Coach Matthew Williams. In 2014 I became coach of Cardiff Dragons helping to develop young talented swimmers to improve and move through the squads.

I completed my ASA Level 2 coaches qualification in November 2014 and in August 2015.

I hope to be able to do the best job I can helping the swimmers to achieve their full potential whilst in an enjoyable environment. I hope to always further my development learning from all of the experienced coaches at the Club taking on as much help and advice as possible.
