Cafodd chwe o nofwyr y sgwad ‘Elite’ eu dewis i gynrychioli Tim Cymru yn yr Aquatics. Bu raid i bob aelod o’r tim brofi eu hawl a’u gallu i gael eu dewis, nid yn unig i gynrychioli eu clwb , ond hefyd i fod yn aelod o’r sgwad o dri a’r hugain nofiwr fydd yn cystadlu yn Glasgow.

Yn ymuno a nofwyr Gemau Olympaidd Llundain 2012 sef Thomas Haffield a Ieuan Lloyd a Danielle Stirrat a gystadlodd efo nhw yn Delhi 2010, mae Otto Putland, Xavier Mohammed a Chloe Tutton wnaeth sicrhau ei lle drwy nofio y ras 200m dull broga a sefydlu record cenedlaethol newydd mor ddiweddar a chystadleuaeth Cardiff International Open Meet fis Mehefin.

Wrth baratoi, bu ein chwe nofiwr yn ymarfer mewn gwersyll hyfforddi wedi ei drefnu gan Swim Wales, yn cystadlu mewn dwy o’r cystadlaethau Mare Nostrum yn Canet-en-Roussilloni pan enillodd Thomas Haffield fedal efydd yn y 400IM, ac yna yn Barcelona cyn parhau i ymarfer yn Sabadell.

Gyda dau Olympian o Gaerdydd a rhai o nofwyr gorau’r wlad yn dod o Gymru, dylai’r gemau hyn fod yn gam pwysig iawn wrth baratoi ar gyfer ‘Team GB’ fydd yn cystadlu yng Ngemau Olympaidd 2016.

Excitement is growing at City of Cardiff Swimming Club with the rapidly approaching XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Six of our Elite swimmers have been chosen to represent Team Wales in the Aquatics. Each member of the team had to prove their right and ability to be selected, to represent not only their Club, but also to form part of the twenty three strong swimming squad competing in Glasgow.

London 2012 swimmers, Thomas Haffield and Ieuan Lloyd together with Danielle Stirrat, who all competed in Delhi 10 along with debutants, Otto Putland, Xavier Mohammed and Chloe Tutton, who secured her selection by swimming a new Wales National Record at the Cardiff International Open Meet in 200 breastroke.

It is also the 12th Commonwealth Games for our Head Coach Dave Haller MBE. Amongst his impressive track record, he coached David Davies to gold in the 1,500m & bronze in the 400m freestyle in the 2006 Games in Melbourne. At the same Games DH trained Gregor Tait (Scotland) won 2 golds and a bronze.

With two Olympians from Cardiff and some of the top Male & Female lead swimmers in the country coming from Wales, these Games should prove to be a pivotal turning point in preparation for Team GB at the next Olympics in 2016.
