6 City of Cardiff Swimmers selected for Commonwealth Games

Six City of Cardiff Swimming Club swimmers have been selected by Team Wales in their squad of 23 swimmers for Glasgow 2014.

Ieuan Lloyd- 200 IM
Xavier Mohammad- 4×100 medley team
Otto Putland- 100 freestyle & 4×100 medley team
Danielle Stirrat- 4×100 free team
Chloe Tutton- 200 breaststroke & 4×100 medley team

Chloe secured her spot with a new Welsh Record of 2:28:90 in 200 Breaststroke at the Cardiff International Open Meet 6/7/8 June 14.

This will also be Head Coach Dave Haller MBE 12th consecutive Commonwealth Games.

The Swim Wales team then attended the Mare Nostrum Meet at Canet-En_Roussillon on 11/12 June with Tom Haffield securing bronze in the 400IM.

In the B Finals Chloe Tutton secured 3rd in 100 Breaststroke & silver in 200 Breaststroke

Ieuan Lloyd was third in 200 free and continued his club battle with Xavier Mohammed in the 200 IM – they were gold & bronze respectively.

We must finally mention Jazz Carlin (Swansea Uni) who took gold in 800m setting a new meet record of 8:20:68.
